How to use CSV to JSON

  1. Paste a CSV tableInclude a header row with non-empty, unique column names and at least one data row. Each row must have the same number of fields.
  2. Select the separatorChoose comma, semicolon or tab to match your data. Quoted fields can contain separators, line breaks and escaped double quotes.
  3. Create and download JSONProcess the table and check the array of objects. Column values are stored as strings, preserving leading zeros, then can be downloaded as JSON.

CSV to JSON questions

Will leading zeros such as 00123 be kept?

Yes. CSV column values remain strings instead of being guessed as numbers, dates or booleans. A value such as 00123 becomes the JSON string "00123".

Can I convert a tab-separated table?

Yes. Select Tab as the CSV separator. Comma and semicolon are also supported; choose the separator actually used by the pasted table.

Why does the converter reject my CSV?

Check that headers are unique and non-empty, each row has the same number of fields, and quoted fields are correctly closed. The tool accepts up to 50,000 data rows, 1,000 columns and 500,000 cells, within the text-size limit.

Are my files uploaded?

No. Your file contents are processed locally in your browser. Website delivery and optional usage statistics are separate; see the privacy notice.

What are the file and output limits?

Up to 5 MiB of text. Text output is capped at 20 MiB. JSON nesting is limited to 128 levels. CSV tables support up to 50,000 rows, 1,000 columns and 500,000 cells.
